Monday, April 16, 2007Virginia Tech Gunman Kills 21 (Updated)From the latest news report:
What grievance against society could push a person to walk into a building and start killing innocents? No crime like this happens for “no reason"--there is always a reason, even if it isn’t rational. I just can’t imagine a state of mind where any reason would be good enough to push me over that particular ledge. I feel for the families and the friends of those killed today, and I’m glad that the murderer was killed today. It saves me from having to continue to find justification for opposition to the death penalty. Update: Unfortunately, ABC is reporting more dead and telling us to expect the toll to rise.

The death toll now stands at 33. Not in reference to the post, but in reference to the comments, why does something like this have to descend so quickly into a political brawl? What friends and family right now need are shoulders to cry on and help getting through to tomorrow. What they don’t need is the angry political fighting that just nudges aside the tragedy and preaches about some pet political cause. Of course, this, from the “Moderate” Voice, is even more blatant from the post through the comments. There is enough time later for that; let this time be for the families. Pajamas Media has a range of links. And Ed Driscoll also has a series of links and thoughts worth reading. Page 1 of 1 pages
