You Mighta Just Lost Me, John

I can forgive a lot of my Republican candidate when the alternative is either B. Obama or H. Clinton, but choosing Huckabee as VP over someone, you know, good would lose my vote.

Bobby Jindal would be a remarkably good choice, although I continue to wonder if he’s even more useful in his current position. Mitt Romney wouldn’t be my first choice and he wouldn’t shore up all of McCain’s weaknesses, but he would be tremendous by comparison.

Until it’s official, I’ll consider it a useless rumor. If true, though, I won’t be voting Republican this year even though the potential cost would be monumental (more on that later this week). What I can’t personally accept is that Huckabee could be one heart attack, disease, accident, or impeachment away from the White House.

For people still worrying through their own voting strategy, this would be a good time to raise voices in opposition to Huckabee. If the GOP leadership and McCain’s strategists are listening, let’s hope they hear the disgust.

Read the story.

None of which changes the fact that updated information about the Interim Bash is coming up tomorrow--along with a little something about our benefactor.

I consider myself conservative, but I’m not a Republican. I was registered Democrat once - lo, these many moons ago. I’m not certain I can vote for anyone running this year. McCain has Keating 5, Gang of 14, and McCain-Feingold in his background, Obama gives every indication (given his scanty resume) of being a ruthless socialist wimp, and Clinton is your run-of-the-mill totalitarian socialist.

None of them seem to have any regard for or even knowledge of the Constitution. If McCain chooses a good VP, and not another Democrat-Lite, I might be able to hold my nose while voting, but I’m not certain about that. I read a description of McCain somewhere on the web that called him “the least-objectionable Democrat in the race.” I truly fear for the country if either of the others is elected.

We’ll be writing in Bugs Bunny here.

I will not vote for McCain/Huckabee. If McCain picks a running mate that I can stomach then I might vote for him. Otherwise I’ll probably just sit this one out.

There are things that I like about McCain, things that I admire about him, and some areas where I am closer to his point of view than a lot of conservatives that I know. But for all the things that I am willing to forgive or overlook, this would just push me over the edge.

I agree ... if we have to suck on Huck, it’s over.

I think Jindal can keep proving himself and someday run as the lead candidate IMO.

Huckabee.
About all I can think of to say in response is, “My cat’s breath smells like cat food.”
