Speaking of Self-Examination (Because We Were, You Know)
Washington lobbyist Edward von Kloberg--whose former clients included Saddam Hussein, Nicolae Ceaucescu, Sese Seko Mobutu, and the vile Burmese regime--has leapt to his death from a castle in Italy.
Not to be rude or anything, but “lately, your low self-esteem is just good common sense.”
Explanation: Yes, I realize that’s not polite or properly sensitive. The truth is that some of the decisions you make in life wear away at you. While it is far more likely that he ended his life because of his myriad health issues, it would be hard for me to escape the sense that this was the only proper ending for a life centered around providing cover for the deplorable.

God have mercy on his soul; I’m not as kind.
Reminds me of one of my favorite curses: “God will get you—but you better pray He gets you before I do.”
And with that, I hereby declare today to be Heartless Conservative Day at ResurrectionSong.
We’re just trying to live up to the stereotype…
As christians (presumably you are), should you not be opposed to this man’s suicide? Last I checked it was still a sin....
Probably. But I’m also pretty liberal in my beliefs about self-determination, particularly when choices don’t hurt others. If he chooses to sin in a way that doesn’t have any effect on others, then that’s an issue between him and God, no?
As for the presumption that we are Christians here, the truth is that some people who comment and write here are Christians and some are not. I am.
The name of the site, though, isn’t Christian in origin, and I’ll assume that’s why you might consider this a Christian site. The name comes from the song “Resurrection Song” by Mark Lanegan. It’s from the brilliant album, Field Songs. Highly recommended.
Wait, wait. I would have sworn that Mark Lanegan was Jesus. Just based on the way you talk about him, that is.
We love you because you make us smile.

Amen.
