Save the Outrage. And the Tibetans. Or Something Like That.

Here is the comment I posted on the great logo scandal.

Oh, c’mon.

The larger circle is the outer atmosphere and it contains our planet (and that would be the negative space on the inside). The big red swoosh is symbolic of hitting threats over the horizon.

It’s more contemporary than the old logo and it’s more visually interesting. I think someone should have noticed that it could be mistaken for something else and should have asked for redesign.

But that doesn’t mean it’s part of some larger plot.

Save the outrage for something real.

Don’t know what the great logo scandal is? Check it out here.

Look, I love me some Andrew Breitbart, but Frank Gaffney has put something on Breitbart’s Big Government site that looks pretty looney to me. Don’t let the site go down the Ron Paul road to craziness.

In other words, don’t let the crazy be the enemy of the good.

There is precisely no reason to jump on this particular bandwagon. Questionable design choices do not equal plots to spread Islamic symbols to America through obscure military logos.

Just because Ron Paul has some crazy followers doesn’t mean he or his positions are crazy.

No, it’s the things that he says about conspiracies in an offhand manner that lead me to believe he’s crazy.

I have a lot of political common ground with Ron Paul. Let’s say 80%. But that 20% is a pretty big gap especially when considering foreign policy and some of his playing to the conspiracy theorist crowds.

Anyone who goes in front of a group of Truthers and talks about grassy knolls and government cover-ups is either pandering (in an especially bad way) or part of the nutiness.

I’d say he was pandering… clearly, just believing that the government can and has committed cover-ups (because obviously, it has!) doesn’t mean that he agrees with every crazy conspiracy theorist he talks to. Until he actually says something that out-and-out declares that he thinks 9/11 was an inside job, I don’t think he thinks that.  I mean, it’s not like Paul is afraid of saying things that will sound outright looney to most people.

A symbol killed my parents, you BASTARD.

What, precisely, is your point?

In addition, David, the missile people say that they made the “new” logo three years ago.

TIME-TRAVELING CONSPIRACY!

You mean something like: Ritter Signs Bills To Tax Candy, Soda? Oh, and, uh, HR.1193, the new tax bill for online, mail-order, etc, out-of-state sales?

Sorry, really, got nothin’ on the whole logo thing. I mean, it isn’t as if it looks like a penis or something.

I don’t keep up with such things but I thought the test with lasers was three years ago and it failed, it had been the second try and I thought it ended that program.
