Rocky Mountain Blogger Bash: All The Cool Kids Will Be There

Feb. 18th 2006, 6 pm
Breckenridge Brewery

Pass the word to help make this a great bash.

You don’t have to have a blog to come, and you don’t have to have a blog to RSVP. Commenters and lurkers are encouraged to come by and meet up with some of the most opinionated, intelligent, interesting drunk people in the Rocky Mountains. Likewise, everyone is welcome regardless of political affiliation, blogging style, favorite football team, or height.

I’ll be updating names on the list regularly and will post graphics for the event in the next day or two.

Who’s Coming?
Shannon. Who is really really happy about the Super Bowl. Really happy.
Steve Green
Matt (the Irregular Blogger)
Doug Sundseth
Wheels. We hope.
Walter. Who won’t be seeing the Rev. Horton Heat just so he can spend an evening drinking and talking with you. He’s nice that way.
Dorkafork. Who really just comes for the chicks. And the occasional Dave-sponsored shot.
Left Off Colfax. Who shows up late just to mock us all when we’ve already reached the “No, I meant it, I love you, man” stage of the evening.
Angie. Airlines permitting.
Darren. Although it’s been so long since he wrote for our pleasure that we had considered revoking his license to blog.
David Aitken. Who, we expect, will be funding shots for everyone. Now that’s one of life’s better ideas. Heheh.
Sheygets Goyishekop.
Jeff G will be there for a bit.
And it looks like JK from Three Sources is going to be there.
Karl Maher, too.
Robin Roberts is coming. I told you that all the cool kids would be there.

Which # is this?

on Feb 05 2006 @ 04:45 PM

I thought it was 5.0, but you didn’t seem to like that idea. If it isn’t that, then it’s 4.6 or 4.7 or something like that.

on Feb 05 2006 @ 05:02 PM

Of course I’ll be there. Even though the Reverend Horton Heat will be playing at the Gothic.

on Feb 05 2006 @ 06:57 PM

Walter, I had faith in you the whole time.

on Feb 05 2006 @ 07:46 PM

IF flights look good that weekend (cause I fly standby) I’ll be there.  Anyone want to send me hotels in the area?? smile

on Feb 05 2006 @ 07:51 PM

Check back here tomorrow night, Angie. I’ll have some links up for local hotels.

on Feb 05 2006 @ 08:13 PM

At the Breck? Count me in. I’ve been wanting to try their beers for a while now, yet never have gotten around to it.

But just as with RMBB v 4.5 at the Minturn, I’ll be more than just fashionably late. Look for me around midnight. And hopefully this time, I won’t trip over a glass slipper some dumb blonde left on the stairs.

Oh, and Angie, there’s a Holiday Inn in downtown Denver. If you’re budget conscious, that’d probably be one of your better bets. But if you can afford it, I’d highly recommend the Luna Hotel. Just a bit over the pricey side, to be perfectly honest, but if you’ve been thinking about spoiling yourself for a night or two, this is definately one of the places to do it.

And no, I don’t work for the Chamber of Commerce. Just spent a lot of time driving a cab in this town, and as such, know way too much about it.

on Feb 05 2006 @ 09:48 PM

No respect, I tell ya.

on Feb 05 2006 @ 10:25 PM

I’m one of the bloggers going to Amsterdam and I leave on the 16th.  I’m really sorry to miss it.  I know you all will have a great time, and please include me on the list for the next one.

on Feb 06 2006 @ 12:05 AM
i can't believe they f*ing won it
I am happy to tell you that the Rocky Mountain Blogger Bash is scheduled for February 18th at 6 p.m. ...
Feb 05 2006 @ 07:24 PM

Jeralyn, that’s a shame. You will be missed.

Have a wonderful time in Amsterdam, though.

on Feb 06 2006 @ 06:02 AM

There are some decent hotels in Westminster. The Double Tree is nice, but there’s a few more. Ditto for some of the other neighboring towns. Just depends on your budget & your hotel comfort factor.

But I’d advise against staying in Denver proper. They (the city goverment & an apparent majority of its citizens) have an aversion to people having the means of self defense, plus they’re not crazy about certain pets (killin gthem as they find them in fact) & last I heard they wanted to nanny over everyone (& kill the bar scene at the same time) by pushing for a statewide smoking ban. Plus the parking is horrible.

Course I keep using these same arguments to get the RMBB (even v. 5.0) moved to a freedom friendly locale, but alas I seem to be bitching in the wilderness.

on Feb 06 2006 @ 06:47 AM

I intend to be there. I haven’t had any blog entries for the past month because I’ve been working on a hot project with a tight deadline, but it should be finished today. It’s not my weekend for Cheryl, but I believe she wants to show up (and can, now that she’s 18).

on Feb 06 2006 @ 10:32 AM

We are SO there.

Rocky Mountain Blogger Bash XL... or 4.7, or 5.1, or something... is set for Saturday, February 18. Full details plus...
Feb 06 2006 @ 01:57 PM

My brother in innebriation, I am looking forward to it immensely.

Wheels, I hope she can show up. It would be an honor to meet her.

TO: David J
RE: Regrets

We’ll be judging a high school debate tournament that day.

P.S. Give my best man a big kiss for me....I see he’s on the list of attendees.

on Feb 06 2006 @ 02:28 PM

Did someone say beer?  Plus, I must see Vodka “spritzer” with my own eyes....

on Feb 06 2006 @ 02:28 PM

I can only drink Guinness.  When we were discussing locales, that was my only request.

Just called Breckinridge, and they don’t serve it.  So I’m going to have to skip this one.  Or else, I’ll take whoever wishes to go to a neighboring pub that serves it with me.

on Feb 06 2006 @ 04:03 PM

Jeff, that’s disappointing. I was looking forward to seeing you.

I called the Brewery and talked to the manager and then to the general manager and they weren’t willing to budge, so I don’t see a way to get them to serve Guinness.

on Feb 06 2006 @ 05:29 PM

Gosh, can’t imagine why the Breck wouldn’t serve a competitor’s product just to satisfy Jeff.

Even though the Breck serves food, I’d be tempted to go a couple blocks south to the Brewery Bar II for dinner before the Bash. Damn fine green chile there. (But no Guinness)

on Feb 06 2006 @ 07:22 PM

Blake Street?

Not Kalamath?

Oh cruel fate!

RMBB v. 5.0 (or whatever)
I thought that the version number rolled over each year. Announcing the next Rocky Mountain Blogger Bash, February 18th, at the Breckenridge Brewery Downtown Brewpub. (Alas, not the Brewery and BBQ on Kalamath.) Dave J has the official announcement and comment thread.
Feb 06 2006 @ 07:32 PM

Well, we can do the one on Kalamath, I just had no idea how big it was, etc… what’s it like?

on Feb 06 2006 @ 09:12 PM

Never expected Breckenridge to budge for me; just hoped we could find a place that served Guinness, because that’s about the only beer I can drink these days (it reacts well with the new meds).

No matter.  You all gather and have fun.

on Feb 06 2006 @ 09:13 PM

Drat, Jeff. And I was going to buy you a belated birthday beer, too.

on Feb 06 2006 @ 09:32 PM

Falling Rock Tap House and Blake Street Tavern both serve Guinness.  So if anyone wants take a half hour and go have a drink with me and the wife, you’re certainly welcome.

Well, SOME of the cool kids will be there, anyway
The official Rocky Mountain Blogger Bash will be held 2/18 at the Breckenridge Brewery, Blake St, Denver, 6 PM - Unfortunately, they don't serve Guinness (the one beer that seems to work well with my meds) -- so I won't be staying long. However, if I'm going to be shelling out big bucks for a baby sitter anyway, I may as well find a few pubs within walking distance that a) can accomodate people; and b) serve fucking Guinness [Falling Rock Tap House comes to mind, as does……
Feb 06 2006 @ 10:04 PM

I’ll be in Vegas on a business trip.  Sorry I can’t make it.

on Feb 07 2006 @ 04:27 AM

Can’t wait. Count me in!

on Feb 07 2006 @ 07:34 AM

on Feb 07 2006 @ 08:26 AM

Hey Hey Hey.  A redesign is coming.........

on Feb 07 2006 @ 09:29 AM

Yeah, well I’ve been saying that for the last year. But I’m sure that your redesign will happen soon.

on Feb 07 2006 @ 09:32 AM

I’m in.

Feb 07 2006 @ 11:20 AM

Hey, Jeff, not that anyone ever listens to me, but I suggested Falling Rock from the very beginning.

How’s about we sneak you in a can or two?  I have a big ol’ diaper bag I could get a 4 pack inside of.

RM Blogger Bash V. (x.x)
Will be held Feb 18th at Breckenridge brewery - not the cool BBQ serving place on Kalamath, but the more (ahem) mainstream place by Coors Field. RSVP here, and yes, you, specifically you, are invited....
Feb 07 2006 @ 02:10 PM

andy: Well, we can do the one on Kalamath, I just had no idea how big it was, etc… what’s it like?

Dunno, never actually been in it. Driven by it a bunch of times, and it looks plenty large from outside. I rather think it’s not a good idea to switch at this late date. Hey, I didn’t even know there was one downtown.

on Feb 07 2006 @ 04:12 PM

I’ll be by.

Lack of sleep? No problem. The slightest touch of whatever bug is popular around here? No big deal. Combine them,...
Feb 12 2006 @ 09:08 PM

Only just saw this via Walter, so it’s a bit short notice for me, but put me down as a definite maybe; I’d say the odds are at least ~60%, though.

Now, where did I put my notebook?
