Oh, Man, I Wish I’d Written That…
From Shawn Macomber, on the occasion of New Jersey officially apologizing for slavery:
Seriously, though, I congratulate New Jersey’s slave community and this long-awaited victory and New Jersey Democrats for embracing such forward-looking policy.

Of all the things New Jersey should apologize for, and they choose slavery?
Thank you, folks, I’ll be here all week.
The State Legislature has taken yet another step to ensure that New Jersey remains the laughing stock of the nation. Apparently most New Jersey voters don’t mind having that dubious distinction, because in November all the incumbents, save one, were re-elected.
Agreed on both counts. There are sane people here in dirty jersey, it’s just that we are far, far outnumbered by idiots. I was born here, but the only reason I remain here is to be near my friends and family. The fact that I have access to a decent job is immaterial, as I could maintain the same standard of living I have here on half of the income just about anywhere else. The sane ones with no ties to the area are leaving in droves, especially young relatively affluent folks. Jersey is 4th in terms of residents fleeing, behind LA, NY, and CA. See http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,303159,00.html ... I especially like the comment how the flight from NJ is “costing the state’s coffers billions” in tax revenues. They won’t miss the people, but they’ll sure miss taking their money.
The NJ democratic party is one of the most well oiled machines in the nation. Hell, we even violated our own constitution to get Lautenberg on the Senate ballot after it was apparent that Senator Bob Torricelli was too corrupt to re-run and would likely lose. There’s nobody to stop them.
