Hasty Recapitulates Shirky (and my spam blacklist rant)
Here's a post just begging for trackbacks. So I'll go ahead and link-whore a little. Hasty's Fifth Axiom of Blogging. Which sounds like Shirky's Power Laws, Weblogs, and Inequality (Via ZombyBoy) Update: Not only did my trackback not go through to Hasty's blog, I wasn't able to post a comment there either. I'm really getting pissed off at over-aggressive anti-spam filters. Really. They're getting to be almost as annoying as spam itself. As far as…
I politely disagree with this notion because big-named blogs tend to self-destruct at a certain point, and when they do they go fallow, rotting from the inside out.
Just look at the steady decline of Andrew Sullivan’s blog numbers.
I admit that I rarely read Sullivan’s site anymore--and always because someone else has linked him, never because I just really feel a need to read his stuff. Are his numbers really that far down? Some of the big name sites do seem to self-destruct, but sites like Instapundit, Talk Left, and LGF just keep on going.

You know, I’ve never found Instapundit or LGF remotely informative or entertaining.
And there it is: The three basic characteristics to make a blog worthwhile. Entertaining, enlightening, and educating.
But what do I know? My blog, relatively-speaking, has no traffic.
