Broncos v/ Steelers: In the End

Here’s to the Steelers. They got the little things right; the Broncos didn’t. They played a better, more consistent defense. Their offense was perfectly prepared for our defense. Their special teams played effectively. Quite obviously, the Steelers are a hell of a team--the fact that they knocked off the number one, two, and three seeds proves how good they were this season.

For me, it’s a sad end and not the game I was hoping for. Still, the Broncs were a much better team than I expected and went further than I had predicted. It’s just unfortunate that home field advantage for the AFC Championship wasn’t enough to help them beat the stronger Steelers.

Congratulations to Steelers fans and know that I’ll be pulling for you to win the Super Bowl. A well-earned victory to extend a great season.

It was an interesting game, and really demonstrated momentum and the “game of inches” aspect.
If Champ had that first pick (rather than Ward catching the carom for a 1st down, I believe) and taken it back to the house, it probably would have been a different game.
But Denver isn’t a team that can come back from more than 10 points behind very easily.  They can score quickly, but only when the other team doesn’t know what’s coming.
Jake has 4th quarter comebacks...but only when both offenses have been pretty effective and (again) the opposing defense doesn’t know and can’t predict what’s coming.
Still, a very successful season, by all accounts.  If you get a play-making DT and a quality WR who can play consistently (unlike Lelie, who looks all-world one play and like an XFL reject the next 10), you will have a very good chance to be in the AFC Championship game again.

As bad as it may feel after the nature of this loss, still: congratulations!

Dave: Did you get my email this morning? I’m having email issues where I am at so I’m not sure whether or not it actually got sent.

WHOOO HOOO. I sure do love them Steelers. Is it a bad thing that I think BIll Cowher is incredibly sexy, especially when he’s angry?

As a lifelong Steelers fan I’m ecstatic but as a North Carolina resident I was thouroughly disappointed in the Panther’s pitiful performance.

Oooooooh...aliteration.

Prior proper preparation prevents [pitifully] poor performance.

Or so my “survival orientation” instructor was wont to repeat ad nauseam.  (Well, sort of, anyway.) Not what you’d call eloquent, but he knew his alliteration.
