Announcing Shatner Appreciation Day

Late tonight, when it’s actually early tomorrow morning, I’m going to kick off William Shatner Appreciation Day. All of my posts tomorrow will be Shatner-oriented in honor of his monumental ego majestic skills as a thespian and musician.

You can join in one of three ways:

1- Send ideas for posts. While I have a pretty high level of Shatner Appreciation of my own, I know that there are good ideas out there just waiting to be mined. Send pictures, articles, thoughts, and melodramatic quotes.

2- Post your own Shatnerian Appreciation and let me know about it. I’ll link you up as you help to spread the good word of Shatner.

3- Drop by and comment. Shatner doesn’t exist in a vacuum, you know; he needs our love and appreciation.

I do believe in Shatner! I do! I do!

(Which, no, I’m not calling Shatner a fairy. In case you were wondering.)

I’m disappointed his website doesn’t look like the one in he years-ago commercial he did for some Internet outfit or another. The best part was his chat room, “Shat Chat.”

I’ve. Made as many. Snarky. Comments. About William Shatner. As anyone.

But dang does he have his finger on the pulse of mediocrity*.  How many actors have starred in three very popular television series aimed at entirely different audiences?

Plus his bust is right next to Clint Eastwood’s in the Hall of Horrific Cover Singers.

There’s just no end to the man’s talent**.

* See?  Snarky.

** Well, sometimes there’s no beginning either....

A bit of looking around at April Winchell’s archives will turn up a few things.

I read one or two of his TekWar books, and found them surprisingly better than mediocre.

I recall hearing/reading (dim, distant past) that a euphemism for a men’s corset is a “Shatner”—rumor being that he wore one in the later days of ST-TOS. (A quick search for “shatner corset” brings up articles in which Shatner denies this rumor.)

I can’t believe nobody has said it yet....

KHAAAAAANNNN!!!!

And don’t forget his singing career ... Lucy. In the Sky. With Diamonds, anyone?

Here’s an apt Shatnerian moment.

gulp

You poor, poor man. You’ve run out of stuff to post about. Resorting to Shatner. You have my pity.

Oh, sure, just completely discount the “dog co-ownership” post.

Wait a second…

Yeah, you might be right.
