American Idol: Still Terse

I had a late start and I’m not sure what I missed.

Blake: Sounded good except for the beatbox (which is becoming irritating. Might be time to retire the gimmick.

Lakisha: Started well, her timing sounded a little off, and some serious pitch problems. Not good.

Jordin: The most perfect version of this song ("To Love Somebody") still belongs to Slobberbone. Jordin was decent, but not particularly good. Whateverish.

Melinda: Apparently I missed her first performance. The g-phrase disagrees, but I thought her take on “How Can You Mend a Broken Heart” was peculiarly weak through the first half and overdone the second. Jesus, can’t anyone just sing the damned song?

Blake: Okay, that was different. Not in a good way, though.

Lakisha: Damn. I hope someone set the snooze alarm…

Jordin: That sucked. That just really sucked.

None of which changes the fact that Tom Sizemore is an idiot. And so is Andrew Sullivan If it weren’t short answer day I would answer his question at length. In short, though: God, what a stupid question.

You didn’t miss much.  They spend all season cautioning these guys to avoid songs by distinct artists, and then they hand them the freaking Bee Gee’s.  The Bee Gee’s can’t even cover the Bee Gee’s.  This season, man.  Ugh.

I’m right there with you. And Paula is trying to pull me back into hating her tonight.

Crazy freakin’ lady.

The problem with this top 4 is that 3 of them are exactly the same.  It’s dull.  I’d give my left something for Gina back right now.

I’ll send forth a hearty amen to that.

This season has been pretty boring with the exception of the entertainment that was keeping Sanjaya around.  Nothing much to even comment on!  I think Melinda is the most talented, and jeez that Blake guy was just awful last night, and blah blab blZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz............

It sort of sucks when American Idol isn’t even fun to mock anymore.

on May 09 2007 @ 08:44 PM

Yes, agreed.

Now the professional performances last night ... THOSE were mockworthy.  Looks like the idol hopefuls are not much worse than those who make millions at this stuff!

Pink and her band?  All up there looking like they were in intense pane.  I think their faces were supposed to be interpreted as “emotion,” but I took it as “Ow, I’m passing a stone.”

And Gibb, someone take that guy to the Oz Amalgamated Glue Factory.  Nice enough guy, but it’s over, Johnny.

Oh, and first album?  Since I thought that was a cool question:  J. Geils Band, Freeze Frame, 1982, on 12” vinyl (released in ‘81).  First CD:  Def Leppard, Hysteria, 1988 (hahaha).

Andy is definitely past his sell by date. Sad.

First album? I’m not embarrassing myself and answering that particular question again…

Awww, c’mon!  It’s gotta be deliciously awful .... you’re pretty open about a lot of stuff.
