on Jun 08 2005 @ 01:39 PM

I could get into most of that--and I’m a little surprised to see you bringing out the funk. Very cool.

on Jun 08 2005 @ 01:49 PM

My “X” song keeps getting screwed up by the comment parser. It is supposed to be:

“X-Ecutioner Style (ft. Black Thought)”, Linkin Part, Reanimation

on Jun 08 2005 @ 02:07 PM

I know. I’ve tried to fix it in the code a couple times. I’m even purposefully screwing it up to see if I can get it to show up correctly with other letters, but that isn’t helping. The problem is that I don’t know what the problem is, if you take my meaning.

on Jun 08 2005 @ 02:16 PM

Actually, I do know what it is: for some reason, the word “style” is screwing that line up. Without the word, it shows up just fine, with the word, it seems to think that there should be some style rule showing up. That’s a “I screwed up the coding” error. I might need to send a note to the EE folks. I’m going to mispell the word for you--and my apologies.

on Jun 08 2005 @ 02:24 PM

Actyally, it is a combination of two things, the “X” followed by “:” and the word “style” combined. That’s why my comment worked (I previewed the comment in no less than seven variations before I figured it out).

on Jun 08 2005 @ 02:42 PM

I could go for some “Mexican Radio” right about now. Good stuff. Maybe follow that up with a little “Take on Me.” You know, make my inner 80’s child happy.

Jerry, I think I tried nearly that many variations, before I got it to work, too, but missed those other bits. I’m guessing that if I do send in a bug report, they’ll just laugh at the unlikely combination of words and letters.

on Jun 08 2005 @ 03:35 PM

Okay, there’s some good stuff in there, too, but i have to speak a little heresy here.

I don’t like Stevie Wonder’s music. I mean, his voice is alright, but I don’t like the songs, I don’t like the music, and I generally don’t like his style. He has a few songs that I like, but for the most part, I just don’t enjoy his stuff.

on Jun 08 2005 @ 03:39 PM

“Nachdi Nachdi Aa,” Preet Brar, Bhangra: Original Punjabi Pop.

What the fuck?

on Jun 08 2005 @ 03:48 PM

What, you don’t listen to Punjabi Pop?

I’m really surprised no one has taken me to task for the Don Ho song, actually…

on Jun 08 2005 @ 03:50 PM

“E Le Ka Lei Lei (Beach Party Song),” Don Ho, The Essentials: Don Ho.

What the fuck?

on Jun 08 2005 @ 03:51 PM

Oh, see, that’s better…

on Jun 08 2005 @ 03:52 PM

Don’t say I never do anything for you.

I’m actually most disturbed by E through H on Rae’s list. Those four shouldn’t be found in the same library.

on Jun 08 2005 @ 03:55 PM

I wonder what she’ll have to say about that…

So, where’s your list, nearly-former blogger boy?

on Jun 08 2005 @ 04:09 PM

Hey! And I actually posted today.

I gotta go home before I can build my list.

on Jun 08 2005 @ 04:11 PM

Hey, sorry about that. I didn’t even notice. I usually try to check once every couple of days just to see if I missed anything…

on Jun 08 2005 @ 06:22 PM

Another vote for ‘78 Style. That pleases me beyond reason.

on Jun 08 2005 @ 06:25 PM

So far it’s the only song on more than one list.

on Jun 08 2005 @ 06:32 PM

"Zachary” from Sonia Dada is on both mine and Jerry’s list--although my version is a live version and his is the album version. Does that count?

on Jun 08 2005 @ 07:02 PM
Rae

Matt, doesn’t it just go to show how well-rounded I am?  I mean that fact that I have a Liz Phair song, a song by a well-known black gospel artist, The Talking Heads, and Carly Simon’s reject should prove that I am just a girl who likes a little bit of everything.  (And this is from the newly purchased laptop; I haven’t figured out how to export all the files from the PC onto the iBook).

I could show you all that I have, but remember just how limiting the whole alphabetizing limit can be.......

on Jun 08 2005 @ 07:19 PM
Rae

Oh, and Z, I don’t think it heresy to dislike Stevie.  I just think his music is fun.

I am going to purchase one new song off of the lists.

on Jun 08 2005 @ 07:22 PM

What’s with the The on Talking Heads?

Yes, I’m impressed by the wide variety of everyones’ lists.

Do you mean you’re going to buy one song off every list? If so, I’ll send you “R U a Believer”, you won’t be able to find it, and it’s very good. And I’d suggest “Damn, Sam (I Love a Woman That Rains)” off of Z’s.

on Jun 08 2005 @ 07:58 PM

Must’ve missed that in my quick glance through the lists.  Still, only 2 songs repeated in the lists is pretty amazing.

You would figure you’d find some of the same songs in the lesser used letters:  Z, X, Q, K…

on Jun 08 2005 @ 08:11 PM

iTunes is great, isn’t it?

on Jun 08 2005 @ 08:13 PM
Rae

Yes, DK, iTunes is great. :D

Matt, just because.  Thanks for the suggestion.  I just bought it.  And I’d gladly take that link.

on Jun 08 2005 @ 09:17 PM

Z and I both have this one, too:

A- “A Better Future,” David Bowie, Heathen

on Jun 08 2005 @ 09:30 PM

Rae: I will send you a song from my list. I don’t promise that you’ll like it, though!

on Jun 08 2005 @ 09:31 PM
Rae

Send it on.  Thank you, Jerry.

on Jun 08 2005 @ 09:42 PM

I give up.  “Very few songs are repeated on these lists.” The end.

on Jun 08 2005 @ 09:59 PM

I was going to play last night, but it was taking forever for iTunes to build the index over the wireless network.  I’ll try it later and plug directly into the router.

And then you all shall marvel -marvel I say!

on Jun 09 2005 @ 06:22 AM
Rae

Yeah, I was wondering where you were.....I mean music lists and Andy....

on Jun 09 2005 @ 06:39 AM

Rae: I need your email address. Please email me (stumpjumper at this domain) and I will send you a song.

on Jun 09 2005 @ 07:18 AM
Rae

Done.  And thanks again, Jerry.  Mp3 love is the safest way of sharing these days.  Well...maybe not....

on Jun 09 2005 @ 11:29 AM

Dude. I just heard “I am a Rock” while driving home earlier this week--I didn’t want it to end. It was a beautiful moment on a beautiful Colorado day.  Thanks for sharing your list.

Also, as we’ve discussed before, there’s no better song title than “Yahweh.” It’s just fun to scream with or without the music.

on Jun 09 2005 @ 03:11 PM

I have done my good deed for the week.

Phew. Now I can go back to being a selfish jerk.

The Alphabet Song
Hey, everybody, look! It's a meme posing as real content! Sweet! Over here, Zombyboy provided a (sort of) A-to-Z list of songs from his iTunes player. Or, more accurately, the first song that showed up for each letter when they...

Earlier this week, Z started a post that made the whole blog listen. Actually, that’s not true, but I couldn’t help but use song lyrics to describe the non-meme. At that time, I was using my 1st Generation Dell Jukebox, so I couldn&#8217...
