A Healthy Sense of Humor
In his article refuting the idea that the average Al Queda terrorist is an “educated, middle class” citizen, Arab News’ Dr. Al-Rasheed closes with something that I tend to agree with. “Another hallmark of real education is a healthy sense of humor. Try finding that amongst your “educated, middle class” morons.” I thought of that while I was reading Shawn Macomber’s take on the Declaration of Progressive Principles.
Shawn obviously has a sense of humor, but I’m pretty sure the authors of the self-important “Progressive Principles” probably didn’t.
Government must be transparent, accessible and open to all citizens who wish to oversee its workings and share in its benefits.
Any fears I had about Sandy Berger having a hand in drafting this just dissipated.
Heheh. Yeah.
While I’m not sure that they are indicators of education, I think that Dr. Al-Rasheed would agree that a strong sense of humor and a little bit of patience are both good indicators of a liberal society. Tolerance doesn’t survive a host that can’t laugh once in a while, both at themselves and others.
Take a few moments to read both articles; they are both well worth your time.
(And speaking of a sense of humor, you’re still in time to catch most of the Citizen Journalist Report with our very own Jeff G.)

A healthy sense of humor is certainly a good indicator of intelligence. I know this because the brightest people I know laugh at my jokes. Q.E.D.
Bwahahaahahahah!
Oh, wait…
