Google Maps

If you haven't yet played with Google's new mapping tool, you should. What Google has done within the limitations of common browsers is nothing short of astounding.

What I like about Google isn't just the fun way they change the logo on their entry page on a regular basis. What I like is that the geeks they have on staff build applications, like Gmail, of a scope that goes far beyond what most people would imagine doing inside of a Web based application. That they don't rely on OS-specific hooks is even more amazing.

It kind of makes you wonder what the back end of this beast looks like, though.
