UN Practices Jedi Mind Tricks (Updated)

The UN is practicing Jedi mind tricks on a world wide scale. Impressive.

Rough translation of an upcoming UN report on human rights abuses in Darfur:

This is not the genocide you're looking for. You don't need to worry about ethnic cleansing.

Move along, move along.

Kofi Anan did admit, with his preternatural Jedi calm, that some "very, very bad things had happened, and, gosh, something should be done about it."

Read the story.

Update: In case you were in the mood for something a bit more serious on the subject...

Actually, this is what Kofi admitted:

...some "very, very bad things had happened, and, gosh, somebody should do something about it."

He then wowed the crowd with a dead-on imitation of Ben Stein from Ferris Bueller's Day Off.

Kofi was quoted as saying today-

"And by someone should do something, I mean, I hate America. And by I hate America, I mean, why won't they take care of this?"

Impeach Kofi

"Hates them, my precious..."

Oops, sorry. Wrong epic tale of heroism...

Abdul, you've definitely seen through to the inner Kofi. Not a pretty site.

As much as I hate to say it, we probably shouldn't have expected anything better from the man who, as head of peacekeeping operations, looked the other way on Rwanda and prevented Dallaire from doing something about it.

Sigh...

And the truth of Rwanda is that none of the UN member nations pushed the issue until it was far too late.

I'm putting a lot of this on the UN, because, frankly, this should be the very reason the UN exists, but it doesn't happen without the shameful apathy of the developed nations. Us included.
