resurrectionsongDecember 02, 2004The Question is... (Updated)...why in the world would anyone want a Ford Shelby SUV? I mean, the thing is just plain ugly... Update: See, I'm not the only one. Posted by zombyboy at December 2, 2004 09:41 PMComments
Ford/Shelby know exactly what they're doing. That thing is styled more or less like a Hot Wheels car, and who (of a certain age) wouldn't want one of those? Posted by: Mark Hasty at December 2, 2004 10:05 PMLooks kinda nice to me. Doesn't look like a truck, though. If you're gonna tweak an SUV, you should make it look like a truck! Posted by: McGehee at December 2, 2004 10:34 PMIt looks more like one of those ridiculous looking station wagons being built by Dodge now. What is it, the Magnum? They look like the type of family car a mobster would buy when he's settling down. That's just my opinion of course and the PT Cruiser was a lot more popular than I ever thought it would be. The only retro car I've liked so far is the Thunderbird, but I did see the new Mustang commercial with Steve McQueen last night and that looked cool also. Posted by: OpinionEngine at December 3, 2004 08:59 AMZ, take your lips of the the crack pipe for a second. I don't think it is the nicest truck I've ever seen, but you know its performance makes up for it. FAST = COOL Posted by: Shad0runr at December 3, 2004 09:50 AMTwo things: One hundred-thousand dollars is too much for any Ford that isn't the new GT40, and I still think the design is a lot uglier than you guys do. Oh, and a third thing, there's only so fast I can go on the highways, so the potential to lose my license would never be the deciding factor in choosing an overpriced car. For that much money, I would have to love the car's looks as much as I loved its handling and speed. Posted by: zombyboy at December 3, 2004 09:59 AMI like the looks of the new T-bird too, but danged if I'd pay $40,000 for one. I'd rather find one from the early '60s out in a field somewhere, buy it for $40 and the cost of a tow truck, and then find a good shop to restore it to like-new (with a couple of modern conveniences, like A/C, cruise, and a disc player that will play MP3s off the disc). That would probably come close to costing what a new T-bird costs, but as good as the new ones look, I just like the old ones better.
