Apparently, I’m Stoopid (Jerry)

I’ve been reading the reactions of many on the left, and one theme seems to be very prevalent: they think that I’m an idiot.

The facts are simple: Bush won reelection with 1) the highest voter turnout (by percentage of eligible voters) in 40 years, 2) the largest number of votes ever, and 3) the only majority since 1988. Additionally, the GOP picked up seats in both the Senate and the House.

What lesson has the left learned from this: that the majority of Americans are stupid.

Reading leftist blogs and publications, I’ve been called stupid, an idiot, cattle, misguided, and uninformed. I’ve been told that I only voted for Bush because I am not clever and neither is Bush, so he seems more like me. I have been called a bigot, intolerant, gay-hating, race-baiting, and gun-toting. I have been called names, insulted, chastised, and berated. I have been told that I made a mistake, that I am wrong, and that I deserve what I get.

Nope, some people still don’t get it. And with attitudes like this, they never will. The American people have spoken, and spoken loudly. And until the left starts listening to that message and stops all of this hateful, spiteful rhetoric they will continue their decline toward an insignificant minority.

Yeah, I've been catching that from people the last few days, too. People who actually know me. They don't say it about me, but by saying it about the people who voted for Bush, they really are saying it about me.

And it's getting a little annoying.

I've gone out of my way to be polite about the election, I've gone out of my way to not gloat or be a jerk, and it really irritates me to be the butt of all of this crap from the losing side.

Damnit.

I have been around Republicans since the election so I have only gotten this stuff online. I consider myself lucky. I know your coworkers, Z, so I can imagine what you are going through.

It's the reaction of the self-anointed elite who feel underappreciated. Fine. Let 'em move to France or Canada or Africa and create their liberal utopia.

I used to think that the leftists who write blogs are a minority of what actual Democrats think. That was until I started working in an office full of liberals. The left has gone too far left and the American people won't tolerate them until they come back closer to center.
