resurrectionsongOctober 24, 2004Yes Yes YesIn a post about an interesting case of voter fraud, Jim says this:
It made me want to stand up and shout "exactly!" The thing that separates the developed nations from the third world, possibly more than any other single thing, is the mutual trust that exists between the citizens and their systems of government. When that trust exists, personal freedoms exist, a constantly changing representative government exists, and the belief in the capacity to change the government for the better exists. When that trust fails, then the government turns to tyranny or falls to revolution. So, yes, these cases of voter fraud are assaults on that most important trust. Whoever perpetrates the crime, whether conservative or liberal, is attacking the bedrock of our nation. Comments
By the same token, any political party or candidate who intentionally sows distrust solely for their own personal gain is guily of a very heinous crime. I'm just saying... The Dems don't care if they destroy faith in the system, which is really the only adhesive that holds the premise together. Here in Florida it's going to be a nightmare of lawsuits and recriminations and race-baiting. Jim is wise beyond his years. Which are enormous. Posted by: Velociman at October 24, 2004 07:47 PMHeheh. And he always says such nice things about you... Posted by: zombyboy at October 24, 2004 08:28 PM |
