Kerry Supporters are Jackasses (Jerry)

Maybe not all of them, but the ones who came by my house last night and tried to tear up my Bush-Cheney-04 sign are. Apparently, they are pussies, too, because they weren't able to tear it, only bend it a little out of shape and toss it into the street. It's back where it belongs now, but Kerry's supporters are still assholes.

You know, I don't even get that. I wouldn't ever do that to a Kerry or Nader sign. It's a bullshit, stupid little act that just says whoever did it was too immature to take part in the debate.

It may have been a childhood prank. But they are still assholes even if devoid of political motive.

This sucks. I blame the Anarchists. Damn Anarchists.

FC, it's "Damned, evil anarchists", according to ResurrectionSong Standards & Practices.

One time I was out putting up a campaign sign for one candidate, and the supporter's neighbor had a sign for the other candidate. The neighbor's sign had been vandalized, but I put it to rights since I was there and had a staple gun. My staples were bigger than the originals, so I secured it better than new.

Got home from that outing and discovered all of the campaign signs I'd put up on my own property had been thrown down.

I put them back up and added a new sign just in case: Private Property. My signs were left alone after that, so I concluded someone had thought my signs had been posted illegally in public right-of-way.

Just a thought.

McGehee: My sign has been up since it became legal in Akron to post signs (there is a 45-day window before the elections when signs are allowed). It is right in the middle of my front yard. There is no way that it's location could have been confused as anything but my proviate property. When I got up this morning, my sign was thrown into the middle of the street and bent out of shape. The plastic looked as though the perp had tried to rip it or, possibly, run over it. The Kerry sign in the lawn of a neighbor on the same block was unmolested.

I have no doubt that this was a deliberate act of vandalism.

As if I needed one more reason to vote for Bush...

Having read why that's the case, I'm in complete agreement with you.

All my signs have been removed or vandalized at some point. 9 times out of ten it's rotten kids, not supporters of the opponent.

Jo: I'd be willing to accept "rotten kid's" if all of the signs on my block had been vandalized. The onther two, both for Kerry, were left alone. So, even if these were just "rotten kids" they were kids who support Kerry. They got both their lack of respect for personal property and their political views somewhere.

Well, Jerry, I don't know what to tell you. Aside from gay-rights issues (Someone wrote DYKE on my car, that was a real treat) I think by and large it's not the opposition...just bored rotten misguided kids. Or maybe I am thinking too highly of my republican neighbors? ;)

Posted by: Jo at October 4, 2004 02:01 PM

Jo: I'm not denying that the perps may have been "bored rotten misguided kids." The point is that the perps only defaced the Bush sign and not either of the two Kerry signs. This was a conscious decision on their part. It is not unreasonable of me to assume that the perps, whoever they are, support Kerry over Bush.

In all fairness, im sure there are 'Bush supporters' out there all too willing to tear down Kerry signs.

FC: "In all fairness, im sure there are 'Bush supporters' out there all too willing to tear down Kerry signs."

Sorry, but you being "sure" is irrelevant. I know for a fact that the only sign on my block that was thrown in the middle of the street was the only Bush sign on said block. If you know of someone who actually has had the Kerry sign in their yard vandalized then I will decry that behavior. Until then, as far as I know this type of behavior is limited to Kerry supporters. Even if there are Bush supporters doing the same thing, my anger is still justified. Vandalizing someone's yard sign is not a valid addition to the political process.

Im not sure if you are aware, but the Democrat headquarters in Louisiana has just been hit by arsonists/vandals.

'Even if there are Bush supporters doing the same thing, my anger is still justified. '

I never said it wasnt justified, what i suggested was its a 2 way thing between loony supporters in both camps.

First of all let me state that I think ANY vandalism is discusting and sad. I would like to state for the record that not ALL, in fact not MOST, of Kerry supporters are so immature. As I am sure not most Bush supporters are either. But ther have Been LOTS of vandalism cases here in Dallas, where I live, by Bush supporters.
In one cimcumstance an elderly man's car was hammered in by a Bush supporter who ripped his Kerry/Edwards sticker up and left a note telling him to vote for Bush. In another case a woman was side-swiped by another woman yelling at her to vote for Bush. And in other cases envolving your less serious, but still discusting, ripping up of signs and replacing them with Bush signs.
Again I think this type of behavior is sad and immoral. Let us all pass along to both sides that this type of behavior is not acceptable and does not represent American beliefs. We, as I know we are, should all be so glad we live in a country that not only allows, but fosters different beliefs and ideals. That is, after all, what DEMOCRACY is all about.

i just want to say that i myself am one of those dirty rotten teenagers that tear down kerry signs. yeah its vandalism but its fun and its not anything serious. were just bored and feel like supporting bush. we dont care if anyone knows who we are or why were doing it. we do it for our own sake. and why should you complain if your sign gets torn down? you are only supporting the campaign more if you get a new sign or put it right back up like nothing happened. its no big deal people. its just dumb fun.
