ZombyKu Finalists

I want you all to know how hard it was to select the ZombyKu finalists this time around. I was impressed with the inventiveness of the 'Kus and the complete inattention to any rules that I might have imposed; your rebelious nature was greatly appreciated.

Ultimately, I left out the non-'Ku based poetry. It hurt, though. Limericks are a funnier than your typical ZombyKu. Of course, I also left out those works that were by people associated with ResurrectionSong--which is a shame because OpinionEngine's ode to beach volleyball is possibly my favorite ZombyKu of all time.

The Finalists

From Nathan, a shot right to Kerry's numbed forehead:

Haiku of Vanity:
Forehead wrinkled in
consternation, or is it
the Botox wore off?

From Dorkafork, a tale of hamsters:

John Kerry, hero
once saved a man from drowning
also a hamster

Jo gives us the kind of Zen gem that I would expect:

on calling voters
November comes soon
but not soon enough for me
I hate phone banking

Craig gets in a shot about one of my personal favorite current issues:

Said Kerry to Bush:
Vietnam? Bring it on, boy!
Five Twenty Seven

Shad0runr tries to save me shipping costs with this sentimental favorite:

In whom do I trust?
It goes God, Reagan, Dubya
Forty-three for eight

Vote for your favorite in the extended entry. Voting closes midnight Friday. Or whenever I get back from the bar.

Which ZombyKu is most deserving to win the Great ZombyKu 2004 contest?

Even though I'm not calling voters, I have to say I agree with the spirit of Jo's Zombyku, so I'll vote for hers.

I just got the hang
Of this syllable counting
Form of poetry

Now I have to go
Back to my limericking
To win next contest

Nathan, did you submit your vote via the handy-dandy form in the extended entry?

I know, I know--why did I put it in the extended entry? Because the post was getting really, really long. I couldn't, in good conscience, leave the finalists off of the front page, but I wanted it to shorten up just a bit.

I loved using that handy-dandy voter gadget! It was so cool and lent an air of professionalism to ZombyKu...

I had to put up with Ken Salazar for US Senate ads while my vote loaded. I know it's a free polling tool and that the political content is probably out of your immediate control, but I'm still protesting yous site for three days--starting now.

No, I didn't, but I will now.

I'm doing a write-in for McGehee's "I'll put my shoes back on" ZombyKu.

...see, you'd think that I'd be winning on merely on the strenght of having my name be the one that appears as the default in the window.
