I’m Embarrassed to be a Christian (Jerry)

Being both a rational person and a religious one often leads me to more embarrassment than fulfillment. Why? Because of stupid shit like this. Stupid for the perpetrators of this crime and stupid for the court system that lets them go. The fact that the idiots involved don’t seem to be a part of any of the "mainstream" religions doesn’t allow us to simply write them of as crackpots. To the contrary, the fact that they are crackpots makes the mainstream religions partially culpable. It is the efforts of the mainstream religions that have created a court system that allows this insanity to go unpunished. There is a line between having a system that supports religious freedom and having a system that allows religious crackpots to get away with murder. We have crossed over that line and something needs to be done. The First Amendment was never intended to protect murders of any kind, especially child murders.

That's horrible.

You can call them crackpots (and I agree they are), but one need only read any number of the religious blogs out there to see that there are many, many people who believe in demons, exorcism, and spiritual things that go bump in the night.

Now, you're welcome to believe any damned silly thing you like, but when that belief results in the unwilling death of another, sorry, but buh-bye!
