Man, I need to get my head back in the game...

"Avoid politics (etc.) Day" just ended. The California Supreme Court just issued its SSM ruling.

Nope, it's still in effect. We all no where I stand on the issue and nothing in that ruling changes that. Since the court only ruled on the authority of the Mayor and not on the constitutionality of SSM, there really isn't anything else to say right now on the topic. In fact, it could be argued that the court's decision wasn't even about SSM, it was about the separation of powers.

Correction: We all know where I stand on the issue...

Well, I was talking about the blogosphere in general. As to the ruling, you're right, and I expect challenges on constitutional grounds to result from this ruling, from people whose "marriages" have thus been nullified.

...which is what I predicted, and why I advocated waiting until everything got settled out, because it seemed to me to be far less painful to never get married at all than have the marriage you hoped was legal suddenly be nullified...

You know, it's the tactics that disturb me far more than the goal. But then, I've never been one to claim the end justifies the means.

Which is not to imply anyone here does. But it should explain why I have a difficult time separating the goal from the tactics used, right?
