resurrectionsongJuly 18, 2004Support for Terror (Updated)In what ways can a government easily support terrorist acts against other nations, against their own citizens, and against the new government of Iraq? Well, first, they can withdraw their support for the re-building effort when faced with the threat of violence--that, of course, only encourages more kidnappings and more killings. When the terrorists find methods of influencing governments, they will go to that well again and again in an attempt to force us all to run and hide. That's bad enough, but the government of the Philipines went one step further.
Now kidnapping and threats of violence become a great way to bleed support away from Iraq and a wonderful fundraising tool. I pray this story isn't true. Read more on Michelle Malkin's site. That's. . .ohmigod, Zomby. . .mark it on your calendar. I'm speechless. And sick to my stomach. *sigh* Posted by: Emma at July 18, 2004 10:44 PMI'm putting the Philippines on my list, anyway, of states that sponsor terrorism. The U.S. government should do the same. Posted by: McGehee at July 19, 2004 08:53 AMTalk about the wrong message. I think it is time to look at the movie "The Untouchables" for direction. (Please note I have replaced the word ganster with terrorist.) "You wanna know how to deal with terrorists? It sounds harsh, but apeasment doesn't work. Posted by: Shad0runr at July 19, 2004 09:31 AMzombyboy I sent you three trackbacks to add a little more insight to this story. As an American Ex-pat living in the Philippines since my retirement, (US Navy in 2001) I have followed the story closely. Nothing will surprise me here. Don't believe me? While this Filipino capitulation is going on take a guess who currently holds the rotating UN Security Council Presidency? Give up! Drum roll please....... The Philipines assumed it on June first. Isn't that special! Posted by: Marc at July 19, 2004 07:17 PMI almost forgot... I added you to my feedreader and blogroll. Enjoy the extra reading. Posted by: Marc at July 19, 2004 07:21 PMThanks for the extra reading--I'll be adding you as well. Thanks again. Posted by: zombyboy at July 19, 2004 08:52 PMPost a comment
