Drink Bacardi! (Jerry)

The Guardian recently posted an article discussion products that are being boycotted because of their political views. Bacardi is currently being boycotted by a UK student group called Rock Around the Blockade (RATB). Why, you ask? Because Bacardi doesn't like Castro. Money quote: "Bacardi shares the responsibility for the suffering imposed on Cuba over the last 40 years by those who refuse to accept the socialist path chosen by the Cuban people." You know what I say? Drink more Bacardi! A whole lot more. Hell, I may make it my favorite drink from now on. This is exactly the kind of corporate activism that we need more of.

We should toast with Bacardi and coke tomorrow night.

Drink to the fall of Castro.

Mmmm, that's sound delicious.....Rum and coke on the deck tonight :)

"Socialist path chosen by the Cuban people.." Uh-huh.

I'll be drinking to the fall of Castro. It's the right thing to do.

Does the student group acknowledge that Castro's new revolutionary regime confiscated all the family's personal and business assets on the island after decades of building a successful business that now fortunately operates in several free, democratic countries? Leave it to student-intellectuals to ignore history and common sense. I'm in on the round of Bacardi.

I don't drink anymore but I'll buy bottles of Bacardi and hand them out to the homeless guys in Charlotte.

Bacardi 151. Hey wait a minute -- is this a conspiracy to get me to set fire to myself by accident?

Posted by: McGehee at July 12, 2004 06:41 PM

I think this, for once, has nothing to do you with you, McGehee :)

So you may purchase and imbibe (just don't smoke, too, or it may look conspiratorial).

A toast, then. To the fall of Castro!

The student community in the UK is full of groups like these.

Over here too, and that's been true for some 40 years.

Posted by: McGehee at July 13, 2004 10:44 AM

1 1/2 parts Bacardi premium
1 1/2 parts coconut milk
1 part watermelon juice
teaspoon of sugar(optional)

Pour them into a shaker with ice; shake well, and serve over ice with a mint leaf.

I call them "Kiss my ass Fidel. I piss on your grave."

Man, I wonder if I can order that in my local bar...
