Calling All 80's Hair Metal Geeks

You really have to read this story of how Shawn Macomber didn't manage to interview Twisted Sister and Skid Row (dude, I loved "Youth Gone Wild"). In bonus land, it also references kickball, lemonade stands, Slayer, and Faith No More.

Geez, I feel fifteen years younger right now...

Check it out.

When I first held the coveted cassette over my head for my mother to see in the audio/visual department of Ames in Dover, she looked at me like I had just asked her to buy me lipstick and a pair of high heels. Two days later when I showed it to my father, he looked at me like I was wearing lipstick and high heels.

Too funny! :) I am pleased to say I went straight from Bowie, Smiths and etc. to Mudhoney and the like...I missed out on the hair-band thing. I do remember the Skid Row song he mentions, though...if only for the video. I remember the last frame and wondering "What the hell happened to her pants?"

(I sure hope you remember that video).

I actually don't, but now I want to see the video again...

I can remember everyone drawing the little Twisted Sister logo on notebooks, chalkboards, bathroom stalls, lockers; basically anywhere there was a flat surface.

TS Logo Patch.

What do you want to do with your life, Mister Sister?

I wanna ROCK!

I actually defended these guys in a panel that wanted to ban their CD from a Christian college campus, along with Motley Crue, Poison, Dokken, and several of my other fav's of the time.
I actually made the guy play the song "Burn in Hell," as this song was his main gripe, in order for him to hear that it says "Don't you bring no evil down on me... You're gonna burn in hell!" I did shy away from playing the song SMF for him.
Whew... for a minute there I thought I was still sporting my mullet.

Man, I loved that song. Without the mullet, of course.
