On the Attack

The Bush campaign, in the mean time, isn't sitting back quietly and letting the light shine on Kerry. They've gone on the attack in two ways. Since it's widely known that the VP slot was dangled in front of McCain (making McCain Kerry's "first choice"), the Bush campaign is both flaunting McCain's support of Bush for a second term and taking Kerry to task for "flip-flopping" on his own running mate.

From the official GWB site:

After stating that he needed a vice president who could step in as President, John Kerry chose the one man he called too inexperienced to be President just months ago.
[...]
A candidate’s selection of a Vice President is a sign of how he will lead. In John Kerry’s case we know he’ll settle for number two; that he will turn to the polls; and that he will make the most politically expedient choice.

The Kerry quotes stating that Edwards is "too inexperienced" to be the President should make for fun ads and talking points for Republicans over the next few weeks.

Read more about the Kerry/Edwards ticket (as seen by GWB).
Watch the new McCain ad on the front page of the GWB site.

That's a great ad!

Yeah, I like it, too. I wonder if it's an ad for normal people or for political obsessives like ourselves?

I think the add is multi-use.

1. McCain backing Bush flaunts the talking heads support of a Kerry MaCain ticket.

2. Arizona is a battleground state. This should help Bush tremendously there.

3. It is just a great speach about the president, and McCain just sounds good talking about the president.
