Reviewing Michael Moore's Film

Kicking off ResurrectionSong's official We Hate Michael Moore Week:

Perhaps my negative view of the film comes from my general dislike of Moore himself. I find him funny sometimes, but I think he uses his position of "Spokesman for the little guy" to become more of a "Fat Rich Guy". He lives in the same neighbourhood as celebrities, he makes millions of dollars at book-signings and personal appearances, yet he still tries to portray himself as Joe Average, sticking up for the little guy. It doesn't work, Mike. You never saw Gandhi at Cannes, hanging with Hugh Hefner.

So it isn't about Fahrenheit, 9/11. Somehow, the criticism still stands.

Before you click on the link, I wonder if you can guess what movie this was about? I'd really hate for Moore to forget his roots.

From the linked site: There's a reason why Michael Moore sticks to documentaries now. He sucks at writing and directing anything he made up himself.

Er, when has Mikey made a movie he didn't make up himself? Just because the Oscar says "Documentary" on it doesn't make it non-fiction.

Amen, McGehee.

Here's my question-why do so many people follow him blindly? Especially when he makes comments like:

"They [Americans] are possibly the dumbest people on the planet . . . in thrall to conniving, thieving smug [pieces of the human anatomy]," Moore intoned. "We Americans suffer from an enforced ignorance. We don't know about anything that's happening outside our country. Our stupidity is embarrassing."

I got that from: http://www.nytimes.com/2004/06/26/opinion/26BROO.html

Personally, I love it when people insult me like that. It warms my heart.
