To the Family of the Brat that Lives Next Door

I'm a sucker for kids, I really am. The kid next door likes to tease the dogs, who bark constantly, by screaming at them. And screaming at them. And screaming some more.

The dogs respond by barking louder, barking more, and, well, by by being dogs.

So, I'd like to ask the people next door to teach their annoying little brat how to use his don't make the neighbors cranky voice.

Jeez, people, I have work to do.

Ahem. Sorry.

My wife likes to talk to me at bedtime. And sometimes, especially if we haven't seen much of each other all day, she gets a little ... enthusiastic about whatever it isb she's talking about. (I'm sure it would be very interesting if I weren't trying to get to sleep.)

Every so often I have to interrupt her by saying, very softly: "Bedtime voice."

Fortunately she sees the humor in it.

How do you feel about babysitting?

Lining up babysitters already?

I have two rules about children (really, more like guidelines):

1: I don't like to hold them until they can hold their heads up on their own--it makes me nervous.

2: I don't like changing diapers. Some nasty things come out of baby's bottoms...

That said, at least one of my very good friends not only trusts me to babysit her kids, but also has me down as her "emergency contact" at the youngest's pre-school. I'm pretty darned good with kids.

You forgot the third rule of children: they are not allowed to come within five feet of me during the "drool period."

Yeah, drooly children and drooly dogs...
