resurrectionsongApril 27, 2004Rocky Mountain Blogger Roundup RetrospectiveTwo things-- Firstly, there was a bit of complaint that there wasn't better notice for the roundup. The notice was up both here and at Walter's joint for a week before the post; I would have thought that was enough notice, but apparently I was wrong. What I would like is for people who would like to be notified of upcoming Roundups to leave a message on this post. Be sure to use a good email address and link to your site when you leave the message. I will forward the list of email addresses and URLs to Walter. The list will forward from host to host and be used to send out an email notification of the Roundup. The decision to send a notification email or not will be left with the host for each week, as will the responsibility to add the email address and URL of any new participants. Aside from that, though, watch Walter's site for notification. He was the driving force behind the Roundup and organizes the hosts. Secondly, there are a few sites that will, hopefully, take part in the next Roundup. You might want to check out King's Kid, Jimspeak, and Better, Shorter. Maybe we can even invite Patty, too. Everyone who blogs in the Rocky Mountain area is welcome to participate--social, literary, political, sports, and every other kind of blogger imaginable is invited to participate. Thanks to everyone who did participate, and to Glenn for linking us. It's a lot of fun to host--partially for the Instalanche, of course, but mainly for the introduction to new writers. Please add me to the email list for the next Roundup. Thank you! Posted by: shmeder at April 27, 2004 09:50 PMYou got it. Thanks for leaving a comment. Posted by: zombyboy at April 27, 2004 09:57 PMI suggested a mailing list after RMBB II. Ideally, some one of us whose hosting company already provides Mailman or Majordomo list management as part of the package could host the list. (I truly despise Yahoo/Topica mailing lists.) My host doesn't provide a mailing list function, or I'd volunteer to run it. Actually, I will volunteer to run a Mailman based mailing list, if someone has a place to host it, and is willing to trust me with access to their account for the purpose. Other ideas, which I'd be happy to host for as long as my bandwidth is free (or longer, provided I get some real income going): 1) Archive page linking to all of the RMBBs. I'd like to be added to the email list please. Posted by: Jennifer at April 28, 2004 07:45 AMBy "Rocky Mountain Area", do you mean the whole Rocky Mountain area, or just that portion in Colorado? ;) (I know, I'm being pedantic, but someone had to be.) Posted by: Craig at April 28, 2004 08:03 AMI second Craig's question. Even though "the Rockies" go from Northern Mexico all the way up into Canada, anything named "Rocky Mountain" seems to be associated with Colorado in my mind. I'm on the western slopes of the Rockies here in Spokane, but it never crossed my mind that I could contribute. Posted by: nathan at April 28, 2004 09:57 AMJennifer, you've been added to the list. Craig and Nathan, I defer to Walter on this one. It's his baby, so I think he'll need to help us define precisely what a Rocky Mountain Blogger is.
