Signed With Love and Light (Now Support Your Local Terrorist)

I've been fascinated with Indymedia lately. This fringe group would be far more frightening if they weren't so damned funny.

A fawning article about Tre Arrow (Michael Scarpitti--the trees told him to change his name) and his hunger strike spawned arguments about whether Tre is actually on a hunger strike and what, precisely, constitutes a hunger strike. Watching the in-fighting is fun sport. What follows is a bunch of completely out of context lines quotes from the comments section.

"Sir, it takes more than food to keep a good man down. Buddha survived for years on just rainwater and the occasional bird dropping. Some have suggested that Tre is fasting, but we know it to be a true hunger strike. Fasting is what Muslims do during the daylight hours of Ramadan. Hunger Strikes are what political prisoners engage in to protest the inequities of our times and their treatment."

"Our brother is in a very bad situation. The longest hunger strike I know of is 76 days by an IRA comrade."

"To those who attack people asking question. That is very unfair and State like. Police, governments and dictatorship try to intimate people from not asking question and changeling the information provided. It is our job in this 'movement' to answer those questions."

Their "IRA comrade." The person who wrote that closed their comment with "Light and Love, The Halifax Crew" (and also posted the original article). Light, love, and terrorist attacks.

Somehow, I think they might be confused on the "light and love" concepts.

Read the story of Tre Arrow.
