resurrectionsongApril 23, 2004It Ain't DoonesburyI realize I'm a wuss in some ways. For example, I got all teary-eyed when Goose died in Top Gun. The Bambi death scene, on the other hand, didn't bother me so much. Today's "Get Fuzzy" kind of got to me, though. God, I'm a wuss. Posted by zombyboy at April 23, 2004 10:59 AM | TrackBackComments
I'm still waiting to see where this goes. You know how big of a "Get Fuzzy" fan I am. Darby usually stays out of politics so I'm not sure where he stands, although the classic "surrendering arm" strip might be a clue. I'm hoping that he is going to be the anti-Doonesbury. Posted by: StumpJumper at April 23, 2004 11:18 AMYeah, it surprised me that he did this. The "You did good, man" was right no matter what happens next, though. Posted by: zombyboy at April 23, 2004 11:23 AMTO: Z-Boy This sort of stuff happens every day in the millitary. Two poor saps make weak exits from a C130 and get tangled up underneath. The separate at tree-top level. One crashes in and dies. A jeep drives through a defensive perimeter and falls into an occupied fighting position, crushing the poor grunt. An APC rolls off a ledge of land when the bank of a small creek it's driving along collapses. The driver is pinned underneath for an hour. Someone exists the rear troop door of an M113, just as the driver of another one rear-ends it. Those are training accidents. It just happens more frequently in combat ops and with a few variations on the same theme...people get hurt. It's not being cynical. It's a statement of fact. It would have been grand to know Tillman, but I know a lot of rangers. And everyone blessed one of them is a Tillman. Regards, Chuck(le) Post a comment
