resurrectionsongApril 13, 2004Andy RooneyI have a lot that I want to say about Andy Rooney's article, "Our soldiers in Iraq aren't heroes." I read it yesterday and pondered writing a response, but couldn't quite bring myself to do so. This morning, I realized why. I'm simply growing tired of celebrities who are using their fame as an opportunity to undermine America's efforts to rebuild Iraq. I'm tired of their arrogant "support the troops" lies while they applaud people like Rooney. I'm tired of waking up every morning to read an interview how some pampered star thinks that the "unilateral" action of the US wasted all that gosh-darned international goodwill by toppling the obviously harmless dictator Saddam. I'm just tired of it. If I feel that way, I wonder how every soldier who wakes up in service this morning feels. Michele has quite a bit to say on the subject, and all of it is spot on. I'm just going to let it go at that, though; my entire response to the subject is far too angry and profane for polite company, anyway.
