Favorite All-Time Albums (StumpJumper)

I've been out of town all week so I have been unable to participate in List Mania. Now I need to play catch-up. My list is pretty different from ZombyBoy's but there are two cross-over albums (three if you count honorable mentions). If you don't own them, then this may be the sign that you were waiting for. Also, I didn't order mine. Trying to decide which of these albums I like better than the others is like trying to decide which I like better: chocolate or chocolate. Instead, mine are listed alphabetically by artist. I've also included a couple of honorable mentions. S, without further ado:

My Favorite All-Time Albums:

  • Ziggy Stardust - Davis Bowie
  • Blind - Corrosion of Conformity
  • Disintegration - The Cure
  • Belladonna - Stevie Nicks
  • Ride the Lightning - Metallica
  • Operation Mindcrime - Queensryche
  • Dream of the Blue Turtles - Sting
  • White Light White Heat White Trash - Social Distortion
  • How Will I Laugh Tomorrow When I Can't Even Smile Today - Suicidal Tendencies
  • The Joshua Tree - U2

Honorable Mentions:

  • Deliverance - Corrosion of Conformity (Every bit as brilliant as Blind yet a completely different style. I decided in advance that I would only list one album from each artist so I had to choose. Blind made the cut because it was released first.)
  • Field Songs - Mark Lanegan (This album is good enough for consideration on any top-ten list, but ZombyBoy's obsession freaks me out a little. I couldn't put it on the list without feeling creepy.)
  • Master of Puppets - Metallica (This album came in a very close second to Ride but I also made a rule that there could be no bad songs on any album on my list. "The Song That Should Not Be" disqualified Master without question.)
  • S&M - Metallica (I can't sing the praises of this work highly enough, but I also decided in advance that I would only include original studio albums and not derivative works.)

The Song That Should Not Be. I keep my skip song finger poised every time it even comes close...

SJ- Stevie Nicks- interesting choice. Gosh that reminds me of the early '80's.

I actually like the Thing That Should Not Be. The things Kirk does in the background on his guitar really do sound like some tortured beast. And the groove on the outro is hypnotic.

On a related note, have you heard The Thing That Should Not Let It Be? It's a great Metallica imitation doing Beatle's songs. They also have songs like She's Got a Ticket to Ride the Lightning and others.

Of course, you probably provided the link by which I found them and I've since forgotten. That's how my life works.

Nathan: You are correct. Z pointed that out to us in a post called "Can't. Stop. Laughing." The band is called Beatallica.

That's par for the course for me.
Hey, did you know there's this great website called Resurrection Song in which two really cool guys named Zombyboy and Stumpjumper entertain and stimulate thoughts with their amusing anecdotes and penetrating insights?

Wow. Another Mindcrime fan. I knew there was a reason I keep coming back. BTW since I know you all can't live without my site it's only down temporarily. :)

One of these days, I'm going to have to haul out the old Dual, connect it up to the 'puter, and rip Ziggy Stardust to Oggs.

Hey, Man! I got to staighten my face.
This mellow-thighed chick
Just put my spine out of place!

There was a time when I had all the lyrics complete in my head. Probably wouldn't take more than a couple listens to refresh that.
