Beat Down By Richard Simmons

When Richard Simmons gets mad he gets, you know, really mad.

A fellow passenger recognized Simmons on Wednesday night at Phoenix's Sky Harbor International Airport as he was waiting for a flight to Los Angeles, police said.

The man "made the off-hand comment, 'Hey, everybody. It's Richard Simmons. Let's drop our bags and rock to the '50s,"' said Phoenix police Sgt. Tom Osborne. "Mr. Simmons took exception to it and walked over to the other passenger and apparently slapped him in the face."

Of course, instead of handling it like a man and bopping Simmons in the nose for being a drama queen and a jerk, the man will be pressing charges. I'm guessing that neither of their fathers would be very proud...

You know, when I first saw the headline this morning, I immediately though of doing a blog entry called "Slap Fight." Then I read that's actually what it was. Simmons is too silly by himself for me to even help him out in that area.

I once saw Richard Simmons at LAX. He was wearing a decorated denim jacket and Dolphin shorts. He was talking an a cell phone. You should have seen that thing pressed into his afro. He deserves to be slapped just cuz. I wish I had finally been given the opportuintity like the one presented to the fellow at Sky Harbor.

Silliness multiplier: He's closing in, I believe, on 60.

Dolphin shorts and afro. And the only other grown male I know of that his voice is deeper than, is Michael Jackson.

At a time when any sane man would be buckling his belt about halfway between his navel and his pecs.
