Al-Queda Schedule of Events

When you find a tactic that works, you stick with it. Al-Queda understands that simple fact, and following what was likely their successful operation in Madrid, seems poised to continue similar attacks.

A statement claiming to come from al-Qaeda has warned of imminent terrorist attacks in Britain and other countries.

The statement e-mailed to Arab news organisations on Wednesday night was signed by a group which said it carried out attacks in Madrid and Istanbul.

It warned the UK, Australia and Saudi Arabia that a "brigade of death" was targeting them and other countries.

But it also said it was freezing its operations in Spain as a reward for the new government's stance on Iraq.

The reality is that the vote in Spain could have gone either way without the attack. Following the attack, though, the vote could only be seen as a victory for the terrorists; especially when the Prime Minister elect is already preparing to pull his troops and his support from the coalition war on terror. Even though some in the US seem to have a hard time connecting those dots, al-Queda is showing no such difficulty.
