Well, That's Good to Know...

All you need to know about Spain's Prime Minister-elect is, conveniently, all you need to know about Presidential Hopeful John Kerry. And I don't mean that in an entirely snarky way.

Socialist leader Jose Luis Rodriquez Zapatero, who won an upset election victory over Spain's Prime Minister Jose Maria Aznar on Sunday on a platform of withdrawing Spain's troops from Iraq, has endorsed Sen. John Kerry in the upcoming presidential election.

"I think Kerry will win. I want Kerry to win," Zapatero told Britain's Guardian newspaper, just four days before he swept to victory riding a wave of anti-U.S. feeling sparked by the al Qaeda train bombings in Madrid.

If you happen to think that the endorsement of the Socialist Party leader of Spain is important, then you might want to vote for Kerry. If you believe that the War on Terror has been a mistake, that Iraq should never have been freed from Saddam Hussein, and that the best way to quell the terrorist attacks around the world is to turn your back on the suffering of others, then you should vote for Kerry (okay, that was a bit snarky, but I never promised that this would be a snark-free zone).

If, on the other hand, you believe that we need to aggressively pursue terrorists, punish those who support them, and actually fight back against those who simply don't mind killing hundreds or thousands of innocents in pursuit of their own twisted desires, then you might want to consider voting for Bush. If you think that freeing Iraq was a noble goal in itself, but also serves a greater purpose in establishing a new relationship between the emerging political powers in the Middle East and the United States, then you might consider casting your vote for Bush.

And that, in a nutshell, is your voting guide. Of course, nothing is ever quite that simple, but how you feel about the endorsement of Jose Luis Rodriquez Zapatero goes far in deciding who you should be voting for in the upcoming elections.

The only real question in my mind is when al-Queda will be offering up their official endorsement of Kerry for President.

Read the story.
