Axis of Attention Seeking Dictator Wannabes

Hugo Chavez is engaging in some serious attention-seeking behavior that is far less threatening or interesting than it is irritating and pugnacious.

President Hugo Chavez on Sunday vowed to freeze oil exports to the United States and wage a "100-year war" if Washington ever tried to invade Venezuela.

The United States has repeatedly denied ever trying to overthrow Chavez, but the leftist leader has accused Washington of being behind a failed 2002 coup and of funding opposition groups now seeking a recall referendum on his presidency.

Of course, this is the same guy who has become increasingly chummy with Castro, and referred to Robert Mugabe as a "warrior of freedom." There would be something almost comical about him he didn't live in an oil-rich country or if I didn't think that he's more than willing to trample the rights of his citizens to keep himself in power.

He doesn't seem to have the passion for exporting violence that it takes to be considered for membership in the exclusive Axis of Evil Club, but it seems to me that there should be a club for these second raters. A place where they can go to feel special and loved.
