resurrectionsongFebruary 19, 2004Must-Read for the Day IINormally, I try to write something fairly thoughtful in the morning. Today, though, I'm choosing to hi-light something that someone else wrote. Val, from Babalu Blog, wrote something this morning that I wish I had written. Of course, it's Val's life and experiences that lead him to this, and his unique voice that brought it to us.
I have tremendous admiration for those Cubans who left, abandoning everything, and who work so hard to see their beloved country free again. What is an abstract to the rest of us is all too personal for them, and the moral choices more painful. Posted by zombyboy at February 19, 2004 09:29 AM | TrackBack Comments
What is an abstract to the rest of us is all too personal for them, and the moral choices more painful. Funny you should use that exact phrasing zomby. Im mulling over an essay in my head about the term "asylum." An abstract term for most Americans, but for me and my family, it's this huge, double edged sword. Posted by: Val Prieto at February 19, 2004 10:35 AMI've been trying to think of a response to this, but all I feel is sadness. Some day, Cuba will be free and Castro will be gone. Then the work of rebuilding will begin. I have no doubt that you'll find many Americans willing to help. Posted by: zombyboy at February 19, 2004 10:54 AMPost a comment
