Not Precisely Good PR

In a spectacular instance of bad judgment, a Catholic priest here in the states seems to have allowed marijuana to have been grown in his living quarters. Another man, Jensen Powell, was arrested along with the priest for trafficking in the drug.

A Roman Catholic priest has been arrested for allegedly growing marijuana in his church living quarters in Barberton, US.

The Rev Richard Arko, 40, was charged with illegal cultivation of marijuana.

Police said they found a marijuana growing system in a spare bedroom and confiscated about 35 potted marijuana plants ranging from 15cm to 1.2 metres tall, along with grow lights, electric transformers, air purifiers and instruction books for growing marijuana.

I have a hard time taking this seriously, but if I were Catholic I might have a mildly different view on the subject. Drug offenses aren't a hot button issue with me, but it would seem to take willful stupidity for a priest to take part in this sort of scheme. I would love to hear his side of the conversation--why he did it, why he thought it was acceptable, and how he feels about it now.
