Gotta Give it to Those Folks at Indymedia...

...they sure do know how to offend.

No matter what you think of President Bush's policies, those soldiers most certainly didn't deserve that kind commentary. It exists only as the dumbed-down argument of an idiot organization.

When the invasion of a dictatorship (and there was nothing benign about Saddam's Iraq) is considered, without humor, to be the equivalent of an expansionist dictator bent on the complete and total destruction of a number of ethnic and social groups, then there is no room for conversation. All reason has left that side of the argument, and all context and judgement has fled them.

There is a subtle commentary that I missed the first several times that I saw this picture. I didn't give much thought to the word "myrmidon" until Jonah Goldberg posted the definition in The Corner. Dictionary.com defines it as "A faithful follower who carries out orders without question." Merriam-Webster defines it as "a loyal follower; especially : a subordinate who executes orders unquestioningly or unscrupulously" (emphasis theirs). Again we have the explicit assertion from the left that the only possible way that you could support Bush on the Iraq war is if you don't question him. Anyone who actually agrees with Bush, in their opinion, must have not given the issue any thought.

There's a slam on all of us in there, too.

A big slam. I had missed that the first time through, too.
