resurrectionsongDecember 18, 2003LOTR: The Return of the King - A Review (StumpJumper)Like many others, I pre-ordered my tickets to The Return of the King so that I could see it on opening day. I was totally engrossed for the entire three and a half hours. I could write a really long review explaining in great detail all of the reasons why this is the best movie to have been released in a very long time. I won't bore you. Just take my word for it: this movie is everything that you could want. Every member of the cast and crew surpasses his/her previous efforts. Every second of footage is mersmerizing. Every word of dialog is perfect. Forget the other trilogies. Go see this movie. Now. Update: Because someone is sure to ask, let me say now that 1) there is no "Frodo of the Nine Fingers" and 2) this doesn't serve to lessen the movie in any way. It does, however, make me want to watch the animated version again... Posted by stumpjumper at December 18, 2003 06:50 AM | TrackBackComments
Went to see the trilogy (extended versions of all 3)on Tuesday - Frodo the Nine Fingers shows up there. My bet is that it's in the DVD (and I'm hoping the demise of Saruman is in there too). Posted by: lyana at December 18, 2003 07:16 AMSweet! It's amazing how much that song and "Where There's a Whip, There's a Way" have been burned into my brain. Posted by: StumpJumper at December 18, 2003 07:51 AMHere is a very minor spoiler in this rant (nothing you wouldn't know about if you read the book) Just being safe.
Julia, you have my sympathies. The theater that I was in was so quiet that I forgot that anyone else was there. Some jackass did let his cell phone ring, but it didn't ring until the very end when the movies was wrapping things up. The timing is probably the only thing that saved his life. Posted by: StumpJumper at December 18, 2003 08:46 AMOops - I'm a bit out of things aparently! I didn't realize you were talking about a song (cringe). I thought you were talking about a plot aspect from the book that hadn't made the final cut (as had happened for the other movies). I don't know if that song is included or not. Sorry! Posted by: lyana at December 18, 2003 10:40 AMI absolutely agree with you that LOTR is the best movie ever. I myself advise everyone go and watch it 'cause it rocks!
