Can We All Start Blaming Bush Now?

The economy is ramping up at a ferocious pace. And it feels good, doesn't it?

The 8.2 percent growth rate — more than double the 3.3 percent pace registered in the second quarter — represented the best showing since the first quarter of 1984, when the economy surged at a 9 percent pace.

The link that I clicked on to get to the CNN article proclaimed "Economy Strongest Since 1984." Or, as I like to think of it, "Economy Strongest Since Reagan Was President." Or, maybe, "Economy Strongest Since the Last Truly Aggressive Tax Cuts."

Hell, the phrase is overly simplistic--there is much more to the economy than just those growth numbers--but it does indicate confidence and real movement in the economy.

Yeah, it feels good.

Read the story.

And yet, the pundits are still urging caution. I heard a talking head on the radio today stressing that this could still be a very "lean" holiday season. I also read a trade this morning state that IT jobs are no longer being cut primarily because these cuts "have hit bone."

Apparently, it is still premature to blame Bush. Go figure...

Well, I propose that we, and everyone else who reads this, do our bit to make sure it isn't a lean holiday season.

Neiman Marcus, here I come!

Heheh.

It's not too late for another tax cut just in time for the holidays. Strategy Memo to President Bush and Republicans: Announce that tax refund checks are being mailed to every American by Dec. 10, even the ones that don't pay taxes and still complain that they don't get a tax credit. Then, when libs and dems start to complain, run commercials with Scrooge and Grinch imagery. What could be more American than issuing tax refunds so that we can consume more stuff in celebration of a Christian holiday?

Here here! Of course, I might be biased: not only am I a republican, but I don't think I've ever met a tax cut that I didn't like.
