resurrectionsongNovember 25, 2003Just NutsA while back, I was invited to join a Yahoo group. The invitation came out of the blue; frankly, I still don't know why I was invited or what about me seemed interesting to whoever sent the invitation. Curiosity is one of my defining traits. Possibly to the point of vice. I don't like not knowing things--and that's one of the little quirks that fuels my huge magazine and book habit. In a normal month, aside from my various subscriptions, I will buy twenty or twenty-five magazines, and a handful of books. The topics include politics (both left, right, and libertarian), computers, art, cars, graphic design, architecture, writing, travel, computer games, and technology. In fact, though, I'll read anything. Years ago, I stayed at a friend's house in Boulder after a night of partying. I was up before the rest of the household and went to their kitchen to try to find something to read. I couldn't find a single damned newspaper or book, and ended up reading the backs of all of the cereal boxes. I say this by way of explanation--a long, tedious explanation, to be sure. When someone sends me an invitation to join a group that discusses politics, I join. No questions asked. What I didn't realize was that the list is home to very vocal conspiracy theory advocates and racists. Not wing-nuts, then. Just nuts. I haven't yet removed myself from the list, as I find it oddly entertaining, but am edging closer to doing so. It amazes me just how people can believe these wild theories, can hate Jews so ardently, and can delude themselves into imagining that they actually matter. Aside from their singular use as cartoonish villains in action movies and the fact that some of their writing makes me giggle, it's hard to imagine anyone taking them seriously. In the spirit of the holidays, and of sharing, I thought that I would gift you all with some selected entries from the mailing list. Enjoy First, one of the posters, Henry, closes each of his messages to the group with this fun little tidbit of information:
Okay, world, consider it forwarded. This lengthy excerpt, from one "neo mulder", is put forth as something resembling serious thought.
Note to the conspiracy theorists: show me a competent government organization, and I might start buying into this stuff. I mean, our government can't even manage to make a profit when they own a virtual monopoly (think the US Postal Service well before there were other options--or even now for normal mail service). If they can't manage that, it's pretty hard to comprehend a super-secret organization that has managed to hoodwink the entire world and guides the events that unravel from some hidden underground lair. Or does it just bring you great pleasure to believe such things? And here's just a touch more Henry--guaranteed to anger anyone who doesn't sympathize with the KKK or the Aryan Nations.
Wow. I mean, I've always been white (lily freakin' white, pale, blue eyed and just this side of blond haired, in fact), but I hadn't realized just how perfect whites were. Until those darned "browns and blacks" showed up. I mean, the world must have been a veritable Garden of Eden when everything was nicely segregated. Imagine, no drugs, no prostitution, no mugging--all that was imported with those darned coloreds. What world does Henry live in? It sure as hell bears no resemblance to the world the rest of us inhabit. Note to racists: crime is not a racial characteristic. In fact, damnit, don't deny us white folk some of the greatest criminals ever known--and we've had some damned good rapists and drug users, too. As such things go. Ahem. Of course, the woman that he was responding to, Hazel, is no picture of intellectual impressiveness.
Hazel does work that conspiracy theory line well, though, doesn't she? Illuminati agenda? Hell, it was a hilarious game by Steve Jackson Games, but that's as close to real as it ever got. CIA forcing poor blacks to deal drugs? And, of course, the Illuminati has conspired to keep blacks in poor neighborhoods and ensured that there aren't any options other than dealing drugs. Henry's Illuminati doesn't sound much like Hazel's. In fact, if Hazel is right, I imagine Henry will be signing up soon for the "Keep the Negros Down League." Henry's racist like that. Oh, hell, that's probably enough of poking fun at these folks. I'll be removing myself from the list in the next couple of days. For purposes of verification, I'll be keeping the archive email that this was all pulled from. I'll send it to whomever requests it--but be careful, the totality of it is far more disturbing that you can possibly imagine. Posted by zombyboy at November 25, 2003 09:25 AM | TrackBackComments
Dick Gregory's Comments On Michael Jackson By Bakari Akil II
On a radio show entitled, Make it Plain, hosted by WOL's Mark Thompson in However, Mr. Gregory does not believe that Mr. Jackson is guilty of the He asked why was it necessary for 40 police officers and 20 FBI agents to According to Mr. Gregory, there is a monetary element to this entire His suspici! ons aris e from the fact that Michael Jackson has taken out loans Mr. Gregory found it odd that every time Michael Jackson is about to come Not holding anything back, Mr. Gregory stated that Rev. What white countryside? Do you mean the countryside that never belonged to whites in the first place and was colonized after the genocide of millions of black/brown indigenous, aboriginal/Native Americans? Do you mean the countryside or land whose sovereignty was stolen by the whites through murder, lies and fake treaties? The Native Americans never sold any land to anyone because 'selling' is a concept foreign to them. For the land or earth is the Mother of all things and its father the Sky. The land or Nature cannot be separated from its people. 'Selling' is a European term. It was colonization that forced us into 'reservations' otherwise know today as 'ghettos' and created a 'caste' society' with white on top and black on the bottom. Realistically and non-propagandically speaking...Black or white is not a race. Black and white started out as a definition for social status. Now this definition has changed. Europeans immigrated to the states to escape oppression. Only to steal another nations soveriegnty, land, resources, etc. and treat them original inhabitants as low class citizens. This is akin to breaking into someone's house, food, etc. (country/land/resources) and then stealing the house away from them, then acting like the person they stole the house from never had anything in the first place. Killing the many family members of the children of the house, separating the family, then raising the children in schools to believe that they are black, negro, native american, and that they are savage and can never be civilized when in realistically they are the descendants of victims of the greatest down-played holocaust that ever existed, mass genocide, kidnapping, abduction, murder and still the victims of oppression to this day. Posted by: Niko at January 1, 2004 10:27 AMMichael Jackson is a true humanitarian, an example to us all. He has devoted much time and money to a wide range of charities. He loves children and takes time out when touring secretly visting sick children. He also has special rooms at his home Neverland for sick and terminally ill children to stay over. He was listed in the 2000 edition of the Guiness Book Of World Records for breaking the world record for the "Most Charities Supported By a Pop Star". It states that Michael Jackson has supported 39 charity organizations either with monetary donations through sponsorships of their projects or by participating in their silent auction. We have made an alphabetical list of known charities that Michael Jackson has individualy supported publically throughout his career. Michael Jackson also helped set up Heal The World Foundation, the charities this has supported have not been listed. Read our Heal The World/kids page for details of this foundation.
