It's Only San Diego

I know it's only San Diego--a team that is having a pretty rough season, last week notwithstanding--but it's pretty hard not to be excited at this point.

Here are a few stats for you at the half:

San Diego penalties: 34 yards
San Diego offense: 14 net yards (13 rushing, 1 passing)
Ladanian Tomlinson rushing: 7 rushes for 14 yards
Clinton Portis: 15 rushes for 74 yards
Jake Plummer: 16 of 25 for 174 yards and 2 touchdowns
Doug Flute: 3 of 12 for 14 yards and 1 interception

Again, it's just San Diego (and I think I said that during the first game), but this is the kind of game that Denver needed coming off of 3 straight losses and a bye week. Plummer is stepping back into his role as a play-maker, and that's taking a lot of the strain off of the defense. Portis isn't having a spectacular day, but he's having a solid day and helping keep the defense honest.

As a quick side note, Nathan might not feel too good about KC losing today, but it's hard as hell to go undefeated in this league. KC can focus on playing football right now, and not chasing history. In an odd way, I think this will be good for them. When the Broncos went 13-0 a few years back, I was really starting to think they had a chance to go undefeated.

In retrospect, it would have been nice, but winning the Super Bowl was sweet no matter what. And KC has got to be the favorite for the AFC to go to the Super Bowl at this point.

All I have to say is: I leave the country and my team goes down the tubes! :)

Seriously, I don't know what to think...
4 friggin' HUGE plays allowed. Any one of them stopped, and KC probably wins.

But then, KC wasted pretty much the entire first half. After the Bengals stopped them again and again and again, but they still went to halftime up 6-3, the Bengals should have deflated. If KC had gone for a touchdown at some point...

oops, this is a Denver thread, isn't it? I didn't see the game, so I have no comment.

Well, actually, you sounded like a Denver fan after a couple of our losses. Especially the big play comments.

You're probably lucky you didn't see the Broncos game today. A wonderful game for a Broncos fan, but probably a horribly boring game for anyone else. There wasn't a whole lot of drama in it...

I'll take a boring win over a drama-filled loss any day. Particularly on Superbowl Sunday.
