resurrectionsongNovember 05, 2003Dang... (Updated)Okay, so I'm working on this novel for National Novel Writing Month. If you don't know about it, it's an attempt to write 50,000 words in the month of November. The novel I'm working on I've given a working title of Fade: The Unauthorized Biography of Ricky Christian. All well and good, right? Well, I've only managed about 2700 words so far. Between work, cleaning up after the apartment fire, having a touch of a social life, writing for the blog, and sleeping (occasionally), I'm not even close to where I need to be with this thing. Even worse, I'm not really sure that it's any good. Damn... (And I just used up another 120 words of effort on this entry. Funny how your view of things changes sometimes.) Update: Andy reminds me that I have forgotten to link to Site Blovel. Mea culpa. Tomorrow I'll even try to remember to get that really cool graphic up here and link the Blovel site in a closer-to-permanent manner. Dude, you're 500 words ahead of me. I continually go back and edit and improve as new ideas come to me. My view is that I would rather have 10,000 quality words at the end of the month than 50,000 crap words. I realize others may differ, but if my name is going to be stuck on some prose, it better be halfway decent prose. And you forgot to point everyone to the Blovel site, slacker! www.worldwiderant.com/blovel Posted by: andy at November 5, 2003 10:07 PMSweetie, you DO realize that it's only the FIFTH of November? Lighten up on yourself. Just write. A little every day. (I'm a fine one to talk. I have several short stories I WANT to write. . .but when it comes to writing them to submit somewhere? WHAMMO. Frozen solid.) You can do it. I know it. Posted by: margi at November 5, 2003 11:41 PMStarting to sound like the White Rabbit on Alice in Wonderland. Don't kick yourself...I can't manage to think of anything to write on my blog half the time. Just take a phrase from Scarlett O'Hara..."tomorrow's another day..." or something like that.;) Posted by: Laura at November 6, 2003 04:23 AMZ, I'm impressed (and a little excited, in a way). 2700 words is alot considering you've been thinking about this novel since high school. It's nice to see that you have finally sat down and started to put it on paper. Let me know if you need any proofreading help. Posted by: StumpJumper at November 6, 2003 06:55 AMWill do. Once I get the bones of it down, I'll probably ask you to take a look at it. Of course, I do owe much to Andy for mentioning the strange little contest that has spurred me to action. Heh. We'll see how it goes. Posted by: zombyboy at November 6, 2003 08:49 AMPost a comment
