Windows Users Rejoice

It looks like Apple's Music Store is going to be opened up to Windows users on Thursday. If Apple has done as good a job at integrating it for Windows users with a music client (either, for example iTunes for Windows or a product like MusicMatch), then it could make quite a splash in the PC world.

If, on the other hand, they're just rushing a product to market to capitalize on the success they've had on the Mac OS side, then the outcry will be brutal.

Apple is expected to unveil at San Francisco's Moscone Center a version of its popular iTunes MusicStore for computers running Microsoft Windows operating systems.

Apple officials won't say whether a Windows brand of iTunes is on tap. However, the company sent out press invitations to the event saying, "The year's biggest music story is about to get even bigger."

This release will meet Steve Jobs promise of bringing the music store to Windows users by the end of the year, and promises to bolster not only the sales of music, but also the sales of Apple's iPod MP3 player.

Here's hoping the get it right.
