"...Spit on the Graves..."

Michelle Malkin's article on this day should be read by all of us. Yes, it might seem a little over the top, but once you get past that reaction, how much truth is in this article?

Our officials need to be held accountable for how they handle this ongoing war--from our local police chiefs to President Bush himself.

They'll hold hands, light candles, and pass around a plateful of platitudes: "Never forget," they'll intone. "Let's roll," they'll thunder. "God bless America," they'll warble in perfect harmony.

They'll assure us that they are committed to fighting terror and securing our borders and doing whatever it takes to protect the homeland from another horrific mass murder at the hands of freedom-hating fanatics. And then?

And then, from Washington state to Washington, D.C., they'll go back to work, roll up their sleeves, and spit on the graves of the 9/11 dead.

Read her article.

What she views as spitting on graves, I see as being patriotic. What point is being an American if no one cares about FREEDOM and RIGHTS? Would you give up a little liberty to feel safer? Not me. The day the government thinks they hjave a right to know what books you check out or to detain you without sufficient cause? THAT is the day the terrorists have won.

And I would answer that there is a lot more to the article than just that. Yes, I would disagree with her in a few areas, too, but I think her point still stands.

Lucky you. Her point is lost on me. As usual, it's Malkin blaming others...and making generalized points but not citing clear examples. I think those in our government, from city councilors to the House of Representatives, are trying their best to make this a safer country while being mindful that we were founded on the concepts of life, LIBERTY, and the pursuit of happiness.

Malkin is a spiteful, over-the-top, meanspirited little woman. This piece is no different.

But for the record:

"Your regional Chamber of Commerce president will join forces with Canadian and Mexican government representatives to put business interests ahead of border enforcement."

Sounds like anyone who doesn't like that idea should consider listening to the debates between Democratic candidates. They might like (and be surprised) by what a couple of them have to say.
