Bury Them

A couple who allegedly videotaped and photographed themselves molesting girls as young as 3 have been charged with numerous felony counts in connection with the assaults.
David Shoutyh Hwang, 32, and his wife Sheila Sikat, 23, were arrested Wednesday after investigators searched their home on an anonymous tip. Police found more than 100 videotapes and pictures of 3- to 9-year-old children being molested, officials said.

I don't think much of a comment is necessary on something like this. I'm glad that they have the evidence, I'm glad that these people will probably be going to jail for a very long time.

But how do you really fix it for the victims?

I can't imagine what I would do if I found out that something like this had happened to my daughter.

I'd be very interested to see what sentences they give those two, or actually, the justification that will be given for the disparity in sentencing that I expect we'll see.

I worked under David for a year at PacLife in Newport. He was my direct report, actually. I worked side by side with him, as did others on my team, as well as the DB team. I knew Sheila too. We all celebrated his 30th birthday together at the house where the evidence was found.

None of us knew any better.

Ironically, as I write this post on 1-14-04, the DA's docket says he is to be arraigned this Friday coming...
