resurrectionsongSeptember 07, 2003FootballIt's only the Bengals, but the Broncos are looking pretty damned good. The game plan is solid, Jake Plummer is looking good, Clinton Portis looks like he wants to make me forget about Terrel Davis, and the defense is staying strong. Still, it's only the Bengals... I think Plummer is going to fit in quite nicely in the mile high. Good for him. Posted by: Kevin White at September 7, 2003 01:48 PMHow about those Texans today? WOO HOO Posted by: Shae at September 7, 2003 02:33 PMKevin, I think you're right--although his second half was a little scary. I think he still has a lot of learning to do. Shae, that was one of the big surprises of the weekend for me. Good for the Texans--and it looked like it was a really good game, too. Posted by: zombyboy at September 7, 2003 03:52 PMNah, it was just the Bengals. Now, you can knock Shanahan on a lot of things, but he didn't just get lucky with Davis. Proof of that would be the string of runners that have set and broke records for running backs over the last few years after Davis went down. Shanahan knows running backs--and Clinton Portis, as long as he stays healthy, is the real thing. Asid from that, I think that the only way that we'll know how good the Broncos are this season is to wait for a few more games. They have a tough schedule. KC looked solid yesterday, but I think they may be in for an exact replay of last year. Posted by: zombyboy at September 8, 2003 12:43 PMIt was a pleasure to watch the Broncos yesterday. Took me back to the good old days. Even Plummer's annoying tendency to throw the ball to the other team somehow made me nostalgic. Posted by: Phil at September 8, 2003 04:26 PMHeheh. Let's hope they can keep up the intensity and fix a few things on offense. They have the potential to be a good team this year. Posted by: zombyboy at September 8, 2003 04:29 PMPost a comment
