I Blog Like A Girl...

I ran four entries from the front of the blog through the Gender Genie and it guessed that I was a woman each and every time.

Just thought you'd like to know.

(Oh, and I didn't run anything through that SJ wrote. I'm afraid the results would just hurt to damned much.)

You needn't have worried. I went 2 out of 3 as female. Interestingly, the one that it got right was the one where I talked about getting hit on by a guy.

I think there's something wrong with that algorithm.

Either that or we're very in touch with our feminine sides and you were just overcompensating a bit...

I tried my top five entries.

All female!

I guess my writing style is just too fay for the algorithm.

But it looks like it's about 50/50.

Mine was pretty close to 50/50, too--that is, the score was almost equal to the number of words in the entry. I'm thinking that maybe the scoring needs to be tweaked slightly to get it right.

I came up about 50/50 male/female. Which explains a lot, I guess...

I'd like to know what the female bloggers are finding when they check. Master Yoder? Jo? The people want to know.

In three tries, 2 female and 1 male. *shrug*

I entered this quote from Samuel Adams and it determined that it was written by a female.

If ye love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest for freedom, go home and leave us in peace. We seek not your council nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.

3 out of 3 say I'm female. Then again, their own site admits that while the model is supposed to be right 80% of the time, it's actually right less than 50% of the time.

Posted by: Xrlq at August 27, 2003 05:59 PM

It looks like it only has a 50% accuracy? It's a good as a coin toss...

I think this thing's a bit crap...not only does it think i'm a girl but I put in this from acidman...

"If I hear one more nut-ball, leftist, clueless, enviro-asshat extoll the glory of wind-power, I am going to fart right in their face. I'll show them wind power.

Why is wind power such a wet dream for environmental wingnuts? It won't EVER power very much, it costs a lot to operate, it blights the landscape and the goddam windmills work ONLY when the wind blows. That's nice. Wind blows, wind doesn't blow. Lights on, lights off.

I suppose the fact that a windmill doesn't have a smokestack is enough to please people who want us all to freeze to death in the dark anyway. Of course, even those people don't want wind farms built where they can see them and there might actually be consistent wind. That would interfere with their sailing jaunts.

Nope. Can't have that. Ted Kennedy says so, and we all know that HE IS WISE among men. He can't drive a car worth a shit, he resembles a bloated toad, but he's an expert on wind-farms, especially when one is about to built in his back yard.

My ass. "

...and it reckons he's a girl too. It's just not right.

I think we have now conclusively proven that the algorithm is a "bit crap." (I like that phrase.) If it can't tell that Acidman is a guy, then it's useless.
