Lyric of the Day (V)

I'm never relaxed
even when I say I am
I'm always on the alert
looking for the problem
this isn't my style
I flirt with guys
but they don't get me
I think I'm ready to kill
the next person who doesn't fit
I am all of these things
I am this and more
It's hell above the water
Hell above the water

Hell Above water from the 2001 Curve album Gift.

I love Curve.

My lyric of the day:

"But sometimes I'd feel more fulfilled
Making Christmas cards
with the mentally ill..."

That was the Smiths, by the way.

Curve is still around? I saw them waaaaay back in 1992, opening for the Cure at Texas Stadium. I think Doppelganger had just come out.

What I remember most from the pre-Cure festivities is the other opening act, the Cranes, and their shrieking feedback. It was the Loudest Thing I've Ever Heard -- louder than The Cure, louder than the Mig 29, louder than the NHRA semifinals. It was so loud I remember it feeling like having ice water poured on me for some reason.

Curve is still around and they just released a new CD that is only available from their Web site. I've only been listening to them for a couple of years. I friend of mine introduced them to me because he thought that I would like them, and he was right. As far as I can tell, the hiatus before releasing Gift caused them to loose a lot of audience and recognition. It's unfortunate, because Gift is a great album.
